Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
I think an Idea could be this, If you cause an accident which is due to not having "i'll say Driving skills" then it will be reviewed at the end, and POINTS taken off that person.
BL2 T1 isn't a hard corner to go around, But you always get a (Bad driver) that goes way to fast and just barrels into others.
Yes I have to say, Just how many resets is fair. As in racefactory's case, others got a reset, or should we just not have one and the (one / ones) that caused it looses -10 points.
This may slow the numbnuts down.

Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
As KK said, it was always going to be carnage. I got through T1 mostly clean and slipped through the cars that were careening about in front of me only to do the same to Sugo (sorry) as we went over the jump. I did pull to the side at the end of L1 to let him (and the rest of the field) go by, which sort of put paid to my race. I did disconnect a few laps later though, so alls normal there.
I also found out what was going on with the timer that I had set up for Lapper. The script sets an event to occur at a future time, specified by the !mins command and I have now adjusted it so that it clears that event whenever there is a restart and resubmits it. This should mean that the timer will go at the right time in the future, although i will need to do some multiplayer testing later on...maybe Thursday for a few mins prior to racing.

Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
ah i see krayy that would make sense.
Yea KK summed it up pretty well as he usually does the wise old owl that he is! big grid in T1 always going to be someone/s that is unlucky, can be helped by a bit of early braking. We usualy do 3 restarts max which is pretty generous.
Had a great night really happy with 1st and a 3rd! I had good pace race 1 but race 2 was weird couldnt get into 1.09s. didnt really get into many battles just had to keep my pace up to stop Nicole and chris catching me, kept them about 2sec back,
Great to see everyone there - 15 qualifers was pretty bloody mean!
Thanks Steala for uploading replays here: http://forums.lfsnz.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=677
NEXT ROUND TUESDAY APRIL 12th - SOUTH CITY SPRINT TRACK 2 (no pit stops here)

Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
Couldnt beleive how much fun that was as during practise following chris aound was kinda depressing lol cause he was insane and made me think that i was far from good at that track, (i think he should be called sebastian vettel on dirt).
Race 1 was a bit dissapointing for me its just so hard to pass and when i did manage to get up the inside of someone the view from these cars is just shit and i didnt get left much room but i drifted a bit wide aswell and it is rally racing so i got over that pretty quick.
Now race 2 was much better once everyone pitted and i got some clean air i was able to run a pretty decent pace but of course Sebastian was insanely quick and just got in front of me as i exited pits and that was that.
As to t1 i think coming into such a tight corner with some 13 odd cars trying to get around it all at once crashes are always going to happen and unless it was someone deliberately not braking then i think you just need to get over it to an extent and get on with the race, myself and Chris didn't have a particularly clean run through it and still managed to come 1st and 2nd

Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
yeah great night for me, considering that I dont really enjoy rally that much lol.
Yep t1 was interesting but its obvious its going to happen. Nobody really goes in there planning on crashing people out, all it takes is a couple bumps and they continue all the way to the front of the field like krayy and sugos case. Not much you can do really.
Race 1 was a shocker for me. Had pole and on t4 the big left hander after the jump i hit the grass, and boy george is it slippery out there.. Must have lost about 4 or 5 positions i think. But just couldnt get past Nicole...
Had a good race 2, pitted early coz found myself being held up a little. Pitting was fun lol, must have been 6 or 7 cars that all came in, was awesome watching it all unfold in my mirror. But yeah came out 4th. Was close when liam came out of pits, just managed to sneak in front of him, and the race was fairly straightforward from then on.
Cant wait till the next race, really love so3. Not sure how pitting is going to work as there is actually no pit lane

Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
Yeah, carnage as always for a Rally X race. I played it safe in race 1, gave people room, went wide or stayed tight if they were likely to try and corner next to me, and consequently managed to finsh about 7th from a grid of 3rd, with 0 mistakes of my own and having been spun out at least twice by someone else!
Lesson learned, race 2 I gave as good as I got and wound up 5th I think, but not without sustaining quite a few 'love taps' along the way.
The problem is the bumps. Its all very well trying to race clean side by side on tarmac, but on the bumps you are involuntarily flung into the car next to you whenever you try and go alongside. Nowt you can do about it other than try your best to keep it clean.
Only solution is to race less easy to drive cars on Rally X. The XFG is pretty easy to knock out consistent laps once in clean air and theres really no catching the driver who pulls away in the first few laps. Stick us all in an LX or XRT and its game on though! Or what about MRT Rally X!?

Some cars like LX and MRT wont let you roll on dirt tracks i am pretty sure.
Yea pretty hard to catch up someone hitting out constant 1.09s
Dam chris loves S03! yea that is a fun track, braking down hill over those bumps is fun! that wall will claim some, might be a few damaged souls liming around near the end.
yea there is a pit lane but no pit boxes so no pit stops in race 2, will be reverse grid though.

Re: WORLD SERIES 2011 - DISCUSSION
There is a rule we added last year which states that if there is a casualty whereby a driver is disadvantaged within the first 2 corners of lap 1, it constitutes a restart (maximum 2 restarts). This allows for a fairer race in the end as "mistakes" will always occur. Unfortunately, this rule never really carried on from a series or two ago.Swivel wrote:Race 2, I'll say it, Lets sort out whats going to happen on lap 1 (too many restarts for me)...
Great night none the less. Enjoyed it!

Vote to re-install it. But in saying that, someone could use that to their advantage if they didn't get a good start.
Or LOL, make it a rolling start and all go after the T1.

Quite like the idea of rolling starts...max speed of say 100km/h through first corner...
