Hi Guys,
Sorry ive not been around for the last set of races. My LFS rig has been busy collecting dust, but hopefully not for too much longer.
Im a restless brain sort of person, I always need new challenges, and wanted a new project/hobby that would be something different to what Ive done before. I decided that I wanted to make some kind of cool costume for the Rugby Sevens 2013. Hopefully it would teach me a bunch of new skills too. And it has!
Ive not embedded the pictures as they are quite large, and hopefully they’ll do the talking for me! I would encourage you to look at all of them in order as they’ll probably answer a lot of questions you might have!
I got a 3d modelling program, designed for making paper models, and a bunch of patterns for the model I wanted to make

Scaled correctly, I printed out the paper parts and cut them out

The Warehouse provided giant EVA foam camping rolls at a the whopping cost of $16

The paperparts were stenciled onto the foam using a sharpie

Carefully cutting out the parts with a pair of sharp scissors, paying attention to the angles that pieces join at referring to the 3d model

A hot glue gun joins the pieces together

Repeat the process, many many times and you'll get to here

Continue for several weeks, and prop up all the pieces on a stand made from broom handles...
