hey, only new here but I was wondering if there are any set rules/guidelines for LFSNZ leagues?

For eg., overtaking, cutting corners (over curbs etc), or crossing pit entry/exit lines?

This sort of thing, yoinked from MNR:

Code: Select all

The following rules have been implemented to assist in the main goal of MNR, to have fun. We race in the virtual world, and have additional problems to real world motorsports, the rules try to account for the possibilities of lag.

Qualify and race details are not covered in here as they may be different for different series.

Clean racing is the main point to these rules. The MNR rules are based on the Clean Racers Club Rules found in the LFSwiki here Clean_Racers_Club_Rules

1. You must have minimum 256/64 broadband, an unsatisfactory ping rate could cause too much lag and will not be allowed on race nights.

2 (a). Pass with care: If you aren't sure you can pull off a move to pass an opponent, then don't do it. Take your time to work out where to try the move.

2 (b). Overtaking car: If you're attempting to make a pass up the inside, and don't have 1/2 a car overlap when the lead car turns-in, you must give way. If you try to pass around the outside then exiting the corner you must be fully along side the other car, otherwise they are entitled to take the normal racing line, which may include pushing you wide. In the event that they do start to take you wide, you should fall back behind the other car as safely as possible.

2 (c). Lead car: If you're being overtaken on the inside, and the overtaking car has 1/2 a car overlap or more, you cannot force your racing line and must allow them the apex.

3. If contact occurs with another driver that is the result of a breach of rule 2 above or any other rule and they are disadvantaged, you must allow them to regain the position immediately - even if it means you lose positions to drivers not involved in the incident. If it is unsafe to redress immediately, you must do so within one lap, prior to race finish. If they are unable to continue (rolled, bogged), and must warp to the pits to be enabled to continue racing, then in order to redress your wrong, you must also warp to the pits and restart your race from there, behind them. If they choose not to continue the race, only then may you continue (after warping to the pits of course).

4. Defensive driving: Swerving on straights to block another driver is not allowed. One change in direction is allowed to help protect your position when entering a corner.

5. Look. Use your look left/right Basic_driving_guides Look_before_you_move, abilities to narrow down the blind spots, also understand where your blind spots are in the car you are driving. Ideally, set your look function to 90 degrees from the default 45.

6. Take care re-entering the track. Whether it be from pit lane, the sand pit, a little grass scenic trip or even just recovering from an out of control situation, it is the responsibility of the car that is re-entering/re-gaining the racing line to avoid collision. Any contact that benefits the tagger, position wise, is required to be redressed by allowing the other driver to regain the position.

7. Blue flag: If you get flagged, it means that a car that is leading you is behind. Ensure you give him the racing line and allow an uncontested pass as soon as is practical. This doesn't mean you must leave the track boundary.

7 (a). Additionally you are not permitted to un-lap yourself unless it is clear that the driver ahead is letting you pass.

8. Yellow flag: If you get shown this, there is an incident ahead. Do not try a passing move under yellow. Take extra caution till the area is clear.

9. Deliberate Corner Cutting: Deliberate Corner cutting will not be tolerated. A deliberate corner cut will be deemed when a car has all four wheels on the grass. We understand that errors in judgment occur, and when a car is not fully under control, this will be taken into account post race when determining corner cutters.

10. Don't try and win the race on turn 1. This doesn't work and it causes more problems than the pass is worth. Take extreme care in the first few corners. Drivers seen to be divebombing on turn one to make up a number of positions, then using other cars to slow down will be penalised.

11. Unable to Continue: If you are stuck in a sand trap, rolled, have undrivable damage, are blocked with no reverse gear or any other circumstance that means that you cannot continue your race, YOU MUST immediately press your "Goto Pits" (usually shift + P) key and warp back to the pits, from here you may restart and continue your race or rage quit and disgrace you and your team.

12. Race Classification: To be classified as a finisher (and earn points), a car must cross the finish line under its own power and before the admin closes the race (which is done once all the cars that are able to cross the s/f line under their own power and without assistance have done so). If you do not you are classified as DNF and no points are awarded.

13. Extreme caution is to be exercised on crossing pit entry and exit lines. These lines may not be crossed at all. There are some tracks where passing oportunities mean having to cross these lines, if this is the case, and at all times, the car exiting or entering the pits, whilst within the pit entry or exit lines has absolute right of way. Cars entering or exiting the pits must make full use of the exit or entry lines and not cross them. This means that you are not allowed to make last minute dives accross the track to enter the pits, or on leaving the pits swerve madly accross the track to get a better line for the first corner. This enables race pace drivers to be comfortable there will be no interference and allows pit entry and exits to be as smooth as possible. Driving the wrong way down the Pit Lane is severly frowned upon, and anyone caught doing so may face a loss of points

14. Conduct towards Admins and Judiciary: All drivers are to be respectful of the organising authority in racing. In this case the Admin team and Judiciary. These organising bodies are made up of racers just like yourself, who donate their own time towards making a successful racing community. Think a little about what these racers are doing for your enjoyment before attacking them verbally or in writing on the forum. Any racers who fail to heed this rule may find themselves excluded from MNR for a period of time not exceeding your life span.

15. Use of the horn under any circumstance is not permitted in either official practice (Monday night pre-race), qualifying or racing. People found guilty of horn use will be disqualified. You may find it useful to unmap the horn from your controls.

16. Pitting requirements / Driver swaps:
From time to time races will have various pitting requirements (these will be provided prior to the race). The stats application (LFSStat) will be used as the determining factor for assessing whether a driver / team has complied with the pit window requirements.

The stats application defines the lap strictly by the start finish line. Which may mean that the pit boxes may be both before and / or after the start / finish line, particularly on reverse direction tracks or tracks with very long pit lanes.

It is the drivers / teams responsibility to make themselves aware of the location of the start / finish line and pit accordingly.

Drivers are reminded that they are to stay within the confines of the pit entry/exit lines until they have entered pit lane or exited back onto the racing line proper

17. New drivers to MNR will be required to wear P-plates in their first few races until notified by the judiciary that their driving is of an acceptable standard. P-plates are worn by placing a red [P] after your name in the actual game. For example: J. Smith [P]
Apolgies if there is a thread already, I did look :D

Cheers,
goop.

Hey, well........... This is something we have been looking into for sometime now and we are to say very relaxed on this in some ways. We of course like drivers to be fair and respectful to each other. If there is any issues admin will tend to them in the appropriate way.

4. Defensive driving: Swerving on straights to block another driver is not allowed. One change in direction is allowed to help protect your position when entering a corner.

What about swerving to get them out of your draft ( usually when they are far enough behind not for you to hit them)

usually if you clip someone then just give them a bit of space
